Are you missing a single or several teeth? Dental implants can be a good, long-term solution for you! We’d love to help you consider whether this option is right for you – let’s have a look at some of the questions patients ask us when they’re thinking about dental implants.
What are dental implants?
Dental implants replace the tooth root and crown (the area of the tooth you can see). The implant is a critical part of the process and gives a strong foundation for the tooth. The crown is made to match the look and feel of your natural teeth so you’ll feel really comfortable and confident with the result.
What are the advantages?
There are many! Dental implants look and feel like your natural teeth and instantly can improve your appearance. They’re easy to take care of, make eating and speaking easier, and will leave you wondering why you didn’t have dental implants much sooner! Unlike dentures, which can be a bit embarrassing and require a messy adhesive, dental implants become a permanent part of the new you.

How durable are dental implants?
Dental implants are very long lasting and hardwearing. With professional placement of the implant and high-quality crowns, this is a solution that results in a great success for many patients. With proper care, dental implants can last a long time – sometimes a lifetime.
Who can get dental implants?
If you’re a healthy patient, with strong gums and jawbone, you can get dental implants! This is a quality solution for so many patients, all you need to be is committed to good oral hygiene practices, regular dental visits, and ready for a great, new smile! People suffering from some disease, such as diabetes, should talk to us so we can work with you to determine if implants are the right choice.
What is the dental implant procedure?
The procedure to get dental implants placed is complete in just a few steps. First, we’ll set up an appointment to work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan. We’ll discuss whether you are considering a single tooth replacement or dental implants for several teeth. We will examine the overall health of your gums and jawbone and discuss the best oral health solution for you.
Next, a specialist will perform the procedure to have the dental implant tooth root (a small, titanium post) placed in the jawbone socket of the missing tooth or teeth. This is a critical part of the process and it’s important that the area is completely healed and the implant is securely bonded with the jawbone before going onto the next step. This process can take about six to 12 weeks to fully heal.
Once the implant is secure, we will attach a small connector post, called an abutment, to the top of the implant. We will have made impressions of your teeth so that the new tooth crown shape and coloring will look like your natural teeth. Your new crown will be placed onto the abutment.
What is the cost of dental implants?
The cost of dental implants depends on the number of implants, specialist services for the placement of the tooth root, and the crowns needed to finish the procedure. Depending on the cause of tooth loss, some insurance plans may cover the cost but this is often not the case. We will help you understand the full cost and discuss any payment options or programs to manage the cost.
How do I care for dental implants?
You will care for your new dental implants just like real teeth! To keep your new smile looking its best, plan on regular brushing and flossing plus six month dental check-ups. Dental implants will give you a new set of teeth that we’re sure you will both care for and enjoy!
